The concept of the Blue and Gold Banquet originated in 1933. The name of the concept was officially established as the "Blue and Gold Banquet" in 1943. Since then, the Blue and Gold Banquet has become known as a celebration of the birthday of cub scouting.

Pack 640 holds its Blue and Gold Banquet in February each year. It's a fun event for the entire family. In addition to celebrating cub scouting's birthday, Pack 640's Blue and Gold Banquet also serves other purposes such as recognizing scouters (pack leaders and other adults) who have contributed to the pack's success, recognizing the accomplishments of the pack and its scouts, and celebrating with second-year Webelos who chose to crossover to a Boy Scout troop. A crossover ceremony is usually conducted at the Blue and Gold Banquet in which representatives from Boy Scout troops receive as new scouts the pack's second-year Webelos who choose to go further in their scouting careers.

This year's Blue and Gold Banquet was held on Thursday, February 18, 2010, in lieu of the montly pack meeting. We congratulate the 12 scouts who have chosen to continue their scouting careers as boy scouts in Troop 640!
